Indifferent Managment, Stingy drinks, Lazy Mariachis 4/15/2010

Its sad to see one of my favorite restaurants drop so dramatically. In the 15 years I've been their customer, English has always been a challenge, but that's what gave Pico de Gallo its charm. It wasn't a riverwalk tourist trap. It was an authentic mex-mex (not tex-mex) place.\r\rThis week I attempted to arrange a party of 20+ guests, and at the last minute was informed that a 'deposit' of $3 per guest would be required. OK, no big deal. But they weren't asking for a deposit to hold the reservation, they were asking for a surcharge of $3 per guest just for the privilege of showing up. This seemed very odd, so I asked for the general manager, Ramon, to call me. My call was not returned. I called the next day, and my call was not returned. Ditto the third day.\r\rLacking all confidence, I did not hold the party, but did stop by the restaurant. Unlike in years gone by, the dining room was empty. I had a meal. It was OK, but far from the quality I've enjoyed in the past. I ordered a drink, more

Towing Cars is more important than the food 10/15/2009

This restaurant is located near an area where significant numbers of homeless people congregate and live. Were approached twice between parking lot and restaurant. Restaurant posted large signs regarding towing and that they are not responsible for stolen items from car. After lunch with my vendors, I briefly left restaurant in one of the other contractor's car to visit a job site (we had 4 cars) When I returned the restaurant had towed my car. It appears that the restaurant spends more money monitoring and maintaining the parking lot than they do in preparing food or cleaning the bathroom. I guess that tells you where their priorities lie. No security to protect your car but plenty of eyes on the lookout for a towing/revenue opportunity. Anyway my recommendation is to avoid this restaurant.Pros: None to MentionCons: Your car will be towed more

Towing Cars from patrons parking lot 7/30/2009

I saw them tow this guys car. The tow service guy was hiding in the bushes laughing. I will never ever go there again. These people also own Mi Tiera, forget it. I am done with all of them. This is how they treat their patrons. I heard that they get kick-backs from the towing service. There are plenty of other places to eat in SA.Cons: Stay away if you own a car more

Stay away from this place 7/30/2009

I went there to meet someone for lunch. They were not there yet so went across the street to find an ATM. Upon my return 5 minutes later to wait for my party, they towed my car. Don't go near there. They may tow your car regardless of whether you are eating there or not. Needles to say it is not worth the +$250 charge for towing which they could care less about.Pros: Dont know, Had to leave to go get carCons: They will tow your car. more

Pico De gallo is a great family restaurant. the food is good the marachi band is awesome. This is all well and fine if you are not a vegetarian. they do not offer a vegetarian option. they do have rice and cheese enchiladas. The refried beans however are cooked in pork and that is not mentioned on the menu more

not worth it anymore 7/29/2008

use to be good a couple of years back. chips we're crunchy not crispy.(too thick)sauce was watery and tasted like straight tomatoe sauce. long wait for the food, and not worth it. if the wait is long, the food should be hot. right? nothing just didn't taste authentic anymore. (tourist trap) this reveiw is from an hispanic not a gringo....you'll have better luck at a taqueria!! Thats real hispanic food! yeah i'm sure the've been open for ever but its the tourists that are keeping it open......Pros: parkings greatCons: but hell you're payin for it more

Mexican Tourist Food 10/31/2006

Not your most authentic mexican food, but it can pass. If you have out of town guest for business, then take them here. It's in the heart of downtown and has easy access to all the tourist spots of SA. But if you are entertaining family and friends that want really good food this isnt' the spot, plus it's kind of pricey.Pros: central to all the tourist spotsCons: not really good food more

Excellent Restaurant!!! 1/18/2006

This place is fantastic. I held my rehearsal dinner here and it was both wicked cheap and super yummy. I had a large crowd (30+) and a lot of out-of-towners unfamiliar with Mexican food and culture. I think they were more impressed with this dinner than with our actual wedding! The mariachis are great. In addition, the restaurant is great with a smaller group (have dined with groups of 6 - 12 several times in the past). Occasionally the service is spotty, but only when they are really really busy.Pros: great food, excellent ambiance, great food more

The worst Mexican food and service I've ever had! 10/26/2005

To start we couldn't get any service dispite the 15 waitors standing around doing nothing but avoiding eye contact. The men left ALL of the service to the two girls. We had to send our margaritas back, they tasted like floor cleaner. The next round was just as bad. When our food arrived we were surprised that the "home made" tortillas were so hard you could knocking sound on the table with them. My enchilada was rock hard and I couldn't cut it with my fork or knife. The one item that was soft was my cripy taco! The corn tortilla shell was soggy beyond belief. I was disgusted and embarassed that I brought my friend here. I will never eat there again, and I will tell everyone not to waste their money there. There are so many other great Mexican restauarants in SA.Pros: noneCons: Expensive, Horrible Food Quality, Extremely Poor Servic more
