Aunt Lou here.

Over on our facebook pagewe asked our readers what was their go-to slow cooker meal. When I saw this Crock Pot Goulash recipe that Janet Marcella posted she had been using for 40 years, I knew I had to make it! I had never tried goulash before, but this picky eater (and her picky kids) devoured this delicious meal. And even better still, it is super easy to make! Win! Win!

So I just want to give a huge thank you to Janet for sharing her tried and true recipe! My family loved it and will be making it again and again! Thank You!

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  2. Place your onion slices on top of your meat
  3. Mix together your garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, mustard and paprika until well combined
  4. Add your water to you mixture, stirring gently until completely combined
  5. Pour your mixture over your meat and onions
  6. Cover and cook on low for 9-10 hours
  7. Mix together your flour with a small amount of water and stir into your crock pot
  8. Cook on high for 10-15 minutes so the liquid will slightly thicken
  9. Serve over rice or noodles

Crock Pot Goulash Notes

  • This makes for a great recipe to come home to if you are going to be gone all day. You always want to test a recipe with your particular crock pot first before leaving one all day, but this one is pretty low maintenance. So, once you have tested it, you can use it again and again (like Janet!) for those days where you are going to be on the go all day and walking in the house to a delicious home cooked meal would be awesome!
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and shouldalways be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

This is almost the exact recipe my mom always used & my family loved. A few small modifications. She would brown the meat in 1T of butter & use the juices from the pan in place of water. She also added a few dashes of cayenne pepper. Served over egg noodles. So good!
